Blogging for Dollars
Tuesday, April 03, 2007

Despite a headline that maybe doesn't match the content, a nice article about Quixtar appeared in this week's issue of MiBiz, a Michigan business publication.  The Quixtar article, "Blogging for dollars," focuses on our First Circle efforts to help new IBOs make money faster and our efforts to become more engaged in the dialog about our business online.  In fact, there even are references to the Opportunity Zone in the article, as well as nice quotes from Jim Payne and Heather Anderson and John Parker, former VP--Sales & Marketing for Quixtar who now is going to head up Amway Japan after serving several years as Chief Marketing Officer for Alticor.

The end of the article says: "We are talking about providing retailing sites, giving the IBOs free tools," said Anderson. "But because we use different technologies around the world, we are not able to do much of that. So we are looking at globalizing our e-commerce platform so we can utilize the same technologies so our IBOs can have a more consistent experience."

.

I thought the Q business was supposed to be a different business model, so why be concerned about making tools available specifically for only the $1+ billion North American market?

I'm not exactly sure what Heather was saying at that point of the interview, Tex. That said, Quixtar is part of a global business (even though the brand and delivery might be different in North America) and we don't operate in a North American silo.

.

What is good for the global Amway business is good for the North American Quixtar business, and vice versa. Lots of Quixtar IBOs build international Amway businesses, and they want the support they get from the company to be consistent wherever they're operating.

Kia,

I agree with that.  The business should nearly identical, same as McDonalds, BK, etc.  So people will know what to expect.

It will also put IBOs here at ease when they show the opportunity to someone overseas.  Now I know some products are limited in certain areas, but the business plan and experience should be same.  Mostly to eliminate confusion between was a prospect might see and what an IBO in North America as seen.

Thanks Kia- Love the blogs

Tex, while Quixtar was a different business model when it launched (online, different revenue streams like partner stores, IMC options, etc.) a lot has happened over the past 7 years -- and Amway around the world looks a lot more like Quixtar now.  Heather's comments were to creating more consistency across IT platforms so we can better share technologies, programs and innovation to help improve the experience of all IBOs.

For example, Amway Japan does a lot with mobile phone technology, communications and ordering.  We can learn from and adopt what they're doing.
