Asafa
Wednesday, May 30, 2007
Yesterday, world record-holder Asafa Powell ran a 9.97 100-meter in a meet in Serbia, the fastest 100 this year. Despite returning from an injury, it would appear he's on track (haha, pun intended) for another phenomenal year.  In a few weeks we're sponsoring the Prefontaine Classic, so there will be lots of Quixtar presence when Asafa competes there. I hope our support -- and Double X -- help him achieve his goals and lower his record of 9.77 seconds even further.  What can you do in less than 10 seconds? Check out our latest video featuring Asafa!

Great video - looks like a TV spot, is it? If so, when's it likely to air?

As I wrote to Beth:

.

Asafa may want to double up on the Double X, I just saw Tyson Gay beat the 100 meter world record by 0.01 second, 9.76, and he didn't even have a good start out of the blocks. However, the wind speed was 2.2 meters/second, which is 0.2 meters/second above the allowed wind speed, so it didn't count.

.

Although I am an IBO and a fan/personal consumer of Nutrilite, I am an American first.

.

Nothing like some good competition going into next year's Olympics.

This is an assume video. Will it air during the “Prefontaine Classic”? I have work this event in the broadcast truck as a tape opperator and would have been proud to have aired this “Spot”.

Speaking of injuries, how is the physical therapy coming along?

Thanks for asking Tex.  I won't be running any sprints soon, but while in San Diego this week I did have to do some quick jogs to cross the street. It's coming along nicely although I'm still limping a little, my knee is still swollen, and the rest of my left leg is atrophied a little.  Sigh. Can't wait for physical therapy to begin in earnest.

Asafa Powell is also mentioned in the new Paul Wall Song "I'm Throwed." Pretty cool to hear his name in some urban hip-hop...

Sounds like you're getting better, and would be able to make it around to some of the connection meetings Beth mentioned earlier.

.

I won't be able to make it to Ada this weekend, but would very much enjoy meeting you, Beth, and others if you come into my area.

Tex, that's too bad. I will be at the expo all day Saturday staffing our "Reputation" booth, talking about programs like the ad campaigns, Success From Home Magazine, ThisBizNow.com and, of course, the Opportunity Zone. Maybe next year? And if I'm ever where you're at (which is I don't know where), I'd love to sit down over coffee and chat.

Perhaps one of the "road show" Connections meetings will be in my area. Do you have any knowledge of if/when/where these may be, as Beth said they may occur later this year?  I would enjoy meeting you in person, perhaps next year will be the first opportunity to do so.

.

In the meantime, we can exchange on this forum, other e-mails, and on the telephone. I'll give you a call next week and we can chat, although we'll each have to have our own coffee or other beverage.

Stay tuned for "road show" details. I believe they will but I'm not privy to the specifics.  As for coffee and phone call, it sounds like a date.
