Keep it real, keep it civil
Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Due to all the legal activities going on, we haven't been able to say too much here in the Opportunity Zone lately. There's lots I wish we could talk about, but we certainly wouldn't want to say or do things that hurt our legal position. Check out the Alticor media blog post today for the latest news.

For just over three years now I've been blogging here at the REAL Quixtar Blog. The Opportunity Zone is now six months old, and I've been fascinated by the commentary all of you have generated about this issue and others in this forum. There obviously are many different experiences in our business that color our perceptions of who is right and wrong on all the issues related to our business. I think the more we share our real experiences, the better. I'm not a big fan of people repeatedly posting and reposting comments made by another individual. I'm more interested in what YOU have to say and what YOUR personal experience has been.

I'm also concerned about the increased frequency of people calling each other names in posts they submit to this site (and to Ada-tudes).  I try to have a light hand on the reins when moderating comments, but every once in awhile you'll note that I edit a comment or don't post a comment at all because it insults or attacks a person, rather than that person's ideas. That's my biggest advice to anyone commenting here: disagree with ideas or conclusions others have drawn, but don't disrespect each other.  I won't post your comment if you call somebody "stupid," an "idiot," or an "outright cowardly liar."

After six months of open blogging here in the Opportunity Zone, I am really proud of the (mostly) civil discourse that has blossomed here. The Team issue has brought many more people into the O'Zone to talk about what's going on, but I hope these same people find enough value in all of the blogs here to come back when we've moved on to tamer topics. Thanks to all of you for making the first six months of the Opportunity Zone so awesome!

Excellent advice Robin!

I agree.

Thanks to all who "respectfully disagree".

Wishing you all a great finish for August as we head into an exciting new year!

Thanks Kia (Robin) for the civil discourse that you have reiterated here. I'm a frequent reader occasional poster and do appreciate your clarification of the "rules" on common discourse.

This is GREAT!! Both Quixtar and TEAM Leaders get credit….. but forget about ANY Integrity both want to take credit for.

Quixtar has changed the IBO’s agreement in the last few years to keep any one from leaving to pursue anything else without paying a 6 month penalty. This is not Free Enterprise which is preached. For that matter…..get this…Well after Legacy Leaders which included Don Wilson, Randy Haugen, Art Mullins CFO and Ron Simmons CEO took my BSM (Tool) checks away from me after 18yrs of receiving them because THEY changed their rules….I got into another business only to have Randy Haugen call Quixtar and begin to have me terminated under the same rules that he now says is unfair.

(He is for this rule or against it depending on if it benefits him at the time)

For the IBO’s who think Randy Haugen and other TEAM leaders are hero’s for standing up to the corporation,  consider this:

They talk about high prices with Quixtar and forget to mention their HIGH prices for BSM’s and functions that can only be moved within the organization and not an end retail user. If Quixtar is illegal……then SO IS TEAM’s system.

Here is something else they don’t tell you…….

Their stacking method benefits the Leaders at the top, not the new person getting started. Look at it this way, if Bob Jones is just getting started and has 5 friends wanting to get in, they want Bob to put them in depth in one leg. Here’s the problem….. Bob’s resources get smaller (his names list). Bob is not profitable (Bob need’s width). Who is profitable? The leaders that share in the BSM money from books, tapes and functions from those 5 friends of Bob’s.  I know this can be explained better…….but don’t believe it when you think they have YOUR best interest at heart. They DON’T! They have THEIR best interest at heart and THEIR big money comes from the BSM’s. There is no Integrity with this leadership OR  what they teach.

I could tell you SO much more and clear up a lot of misconceptions, but for now I’ll just say…….

It is time for everyone to open their eye’s.

It is time these “hero’s” have finally been terminated after all the damage they have caused to so many people for so long. It is also time for Quixtar to go back to their agreements of  a few years ago when you could leave the business or be in another one but not take anyone from your group below your frontline.

Robin, you probably receive civil discourse on your blog because you treat people with respect and do not bait them into making crude remarks..

This is in stark contrast to the Alticor Blog.

Has the AQA employee that runs that blog ever read, "How to Win Friends and Influence People"?

Some of the "trash talk" was encouraged by the brash posts on the Alticor blogs regarding TEAM. I am in favor of such posts, it brings out more true feelings (and facts) the the typical, stuffed-shirt legalese type blogs we are used to seeing.

Also, the negative blogs, whether the established qblog or the more recent freetheibo blog, are heavy into the "trash talk" format, so keeping the corporate blog "nice" simply makes them look wimpy, ineffectual, and boring.

You lose the support of some IBO's either way, but I for one support the "in your face" approach Alticor has taken, it exposes the opposing side and their agenda much more effectively.

Also, as I mentioned to another blogger, you can show the blogs to a previously negative neighbor or relative and expect a better reaction than if the corporate blogs were, well, "corporate".

Robin, a comment on another blog post (someone named Peter I think) pointed out the danger of getting distracted and disengaged by all the "she loves me she loves me not" Days of Our Lives flutter going on around the Transformation process and those that don't want to be a part of it.

In that vein, of refocusing on our personal life goals and priorities, may I offer this excerpt from an email my upline sent out this past week... I think it pertains:

****

It's Monday!

You know the song," It's now or never." That just popped into my head as I sat down to write you all a quick Monday note.

IT'S NOW OR NEVER

We have NEVER ...had the kind of bonuses offered that we have now!

We have NEVER ...had a window of time like we have been given to accomplish our goals!

We have NEVER ...had the kind of Profit on Products that we will have in September!

We have NEVER ...had the kind of excellent partnership we have with the company that we have now!

We will NEVER ...know how many goals we score of we don't start shooting the puck

We have NEVER ...seen so many people decide to "Go For It" as we are seeing right  now!

NOW is the time. THIS is the business and as my hockey coach used to say, "xxxx, get your feet in motion and keep them in motion until your shift is over"

NOW IS THE TIME TO COMMIT

I also remember how I had dreamed of playing football. And then the day came. I was running out on to the field as the quarterback [at the university I attended]. My heart was pounding as I saw the huge 300 lb linemen looking to crunch me into the ground as soon as the ball was snapped. Again my coach said, "Keep those legs moving and stay away from the 'tackles'. Concentrate on your receivers and you'll win the game."

You may be scared or wondering if you should make a commitment. What have you got to lose.

"LIFE IS EITHER A DARING ADVENTURE OR NOTHING AT ALL"

If you have set a goal that is related to the new bonuses and have sent it to us, you can call in to our Conference Call at xxxx

If you have not yet sent us your goal, do that now by emailing me at xxxx

Have a great week ...and "keep those feet movin'" every day.

****

With appreciation,

My two cents:

There are the posts by the blogger and then there are the comments. Two separate things.

I am NOT in favor of "trash talk".

.

There are comments people write on blogs (and other electronic "instant" media like emails) that they would NEVER say to a person's face.

.

I am no exception. And I later regret those moments.

.

As far as the Alticor Media Blog, I am in favor of the blogger's posts. It's a Media blog, and so the tone is a very specific tone that is geared toward the MEDIA. It's sensational for a reason.

.

Do I agree that the comments should be "allowed" no matter how ugly they are?

.

I noticed that there isn't a Comment Policy, like there is at OZ. Perhaps that's why the Moderator is allowing comments which are clearly personal attacks.

.

Do I agree with this? Not if the goal is to communicate. When you start getting in to name-calling, communication ends because the focus comes off of what your are trying to communicate and goes on to the kind of person you are (in that momemt).

.

No matter how "truthful" I am in what I'm communicating, if I'm a jerk in delivering that message,I've now given people "an out" from hearing my point, because now they can focus on what a jerk I am.

.

But maybe the goal over at MAB isn't communication.

.

I have no idea. Considering that we don't even know who the Moderator(s) is/are, the "rules" over there are a bit different then here in the land of OZ.

.

Maybe that was more like my four or five or ten cents.

.

:)

I'm familure with exactly what your refering to!

This is after all every persons business opportunity and since anyone can get into this business there are not filtering peoples values, morals or mentality.

This country was based on dissenting opinions and we see it everyday! Only the weak minded resort to attacking the person

Sorry for all my spelling and grammatical errors in my last post...All, please don't flog me!

(flog, meaning to beat severly. Not flog, meaning a fake blog)
