Today we say farewell to our beauty editor here at Quixtar.  Tonya resigned to pursue personal interests, and we wish her well in her new endeavors.  We're happy that she will continue to lend her talents to us from time to time as a contractor, including some ongoing work in support of the Artistry essentials launch.

Of course, Tonya's departure does bring to an end her Beauty Tipsy blog here in the Opportunity Zone. We don't expect this to be the end of beauty blogging here, however, and hope to bring to you a new beauty-oriented blog in the not-too-distant future.

So, I'm looking for a beauty editor. The job applications are coming in and I already have a few interviews being set up, so I hope it doesn't take too long!  There's just too much work to be done to be short staffed for too long. Not only will Tonya no longer be here to support us, but two other key staff members will soon be gone for awhile on Maternity Leave.  Cindy, one of our brand editors, is expecting her second child in November, as is Anna, who is so instrumental to the success of the Opportunity Zone.

That means other great talents within Communications will be stepping up to the challenge of new roles. Jessica, one of our writers, will expand her scope of work in the beauty arena.  In PR, Katie will assume even greater responsibilities for the Opportunity Zone and our involvement in social media.

In any time of change, such as the one we're going through in Communications, new opportunities emerge for those who can stand and deliver. I have great confidence that Jessica and Katie are two such individuals.

As Quixtar goes through its own business transformation, there are new opportunities for IBOs to truly make a difference. New products, new QBI rewards, and new training, and a renewed focus on retail customers give IBOs a lot of new reasons to be excited about this business and what it can do to help them achieve their goals. I'm excited to hear about the many new ways IBOs are using these new programs to build their businesses.

Have a great weekend!

Considering that Artistry is a pretty profitable product line, getting a new Beauty Editor asap would be a good idea. :)

.

I am excited about the new Artistry Essentials line.

SIMPLE BEAUTY. SIMPLY DEFINED

.

Lovin' the new Essentials Makeup Kits. I'm not a big makeup person, and this is right up my ally. VERY retailable. Mineral Makeup. Worth reading up on this "trend"--started about 30 years ago.

.

Whether it is really is "better" than non-mineral makeup is beside the point--'cause the buzz is buzzin'

.

=)

Though Tonya may have been instrumentl in the Artistry essentials launch, she was very unresponsive to questions and suggestions posted on her BeautyTipsy blog. As you can see, it mainly details her personal life, but when it came to bringing it back to how she could help us with our Artistry/NAO business (e.g. providing us with beauty trends, answering specific questions about products, promising to fill us in on what's going on with Artistry at the company) she delivered short. So it's my hope that the next beauty editor will be able to support IBOs serious about their beauty biz by providing expert advice that links with the products and services we provide. For example, have any fashion designers used Artistry on their shows runways? Tonya mentioned a movie star was introduced to Artistry essentials makeup - ok so who is it - wouldn't it add a lot of credibility if we could mention it to our clients? What about the latest beauty trends and what products we have that respond to those trends. What about makeup application techniques or beauty industry secrets?  Just some basic thoughts as you look for a new beauty editor - find someone who has a great handle of both the beauty biz and our biz so that they can add more value to this opportunity.

Robin,

If Tanya starts her own cosmetic line, is she subject to the non-compete rules that IBOs are?

Editor's Note: I don't think so. That said, Tonya doesn't make cosmetics, she writes about them. It would take a pretty huge investment for someone to launch their own cosmetics company. Besides, she still plans to do work for us as a contractor and knows we'd be less likely to use her services if she were to start a competitive company.   RL

Robin,

I think it helps to have the new Beauty Editor to be a "in the field". In other words, a make-up artist first, and a writer/marketer second.

.

Some of the Artistry trainers I've seen for PEPs clearly had no background in cosmetics/skin care. They would say things that even I, as a "layman", knew wasn't true.

.

And therefore they lost all credibility with me--I would start to wonder the validity of EVERYTHING they would say. I saw them as the saleswomen/marketing cheerleaders who they truly were.

.

Being able to effectively communicate is important. Knowledge and credibility, though, come first. IMHO. :)
