DSA presentation

Do you have a Google alert set up for your name? I do. No, it's not vanity (well, maybe a little). But if my name does appear in another blog or in a news piece, it's work-related and I want to see what others are saying about me, just like I want to know what others are saying about Quixtar or Amway.
Anyway, my name popped up in a blog because of my talk at DSA last week. The Inside Direct Selling News blog written by Nancy Laichas included a summary of the presentation I gave. Essentially, my presentation was a walk through our experience on the web since the mid-'90s, from a billboard site to providing facts to inform burgeoning discussions about our business to our foray into e-commerce to our commitment to open dialog today.
Sitting in the audience were a couple hundred execs and staff of the top direct selling companies in America. They are all very interested in what we are doing with the Opportunity Zone because none of them are doing anything like that. For many, there isn't a need. For others, there are still internal barriers to be overcome before they can do something like this, whether that be legal concerns, sensitivity to criticism, resources, and more. What we are doing here is not easy, but it is necessary.
People are talking about us. Our voice needs to be heard as part of that discussion, or else it will not be a conversation that reflects all opinions. That's what Opportunity Zone is all about, as well as our efforts to ensure the company's voice is heard elsewhere. You, the readers, also have opinions that should be heard. Anytime you see something you agree with or not, you should drop a line. It's quick, it's easy, and it ensures that the conversation we're having is full and robust.
I hope you've had a good week! I'm looking forward to a great weekend and the holiday season to come.
