Finishing Touches
Thursday, September 18, 2008

The MoBEs are getting their final touches and we are SOOOO excited to be nearing the end of a very long process to bring to live the Nutrilite and Artistry Mobile Brand Experiences. In a hidden location here in GR, the Artistry brand bus is getting prepped for its debut, to be joined today by the Nutrilite semi trailer.  After an unveiling for employees here at Amway Global / Quixtar North America, they will hit the road for the beginning of the Tina Turner tour Oct. 1 in Kansas City.

SO many people here contributed to these experiences.  The marketers who provided direction, of course. Special thanks to Marsha and Tom who devoted countless hours to this project. Our outside vendors, Whit, John, Dan and many more. Connie, the awesomest ever project manager. Art directors, IT folk, too many to mention. John, who had to jump through all the hoops to get the bills paid. Katie the intern, who is spending this week and next running around for vendors as they perform their magic on these mammoth vehicles.  And, of course, Elizabeth and Jessica of the Advertising/PR/Sponsorship group, who contributed blood, sweat and tears. Right now, Elizabeth is making her way back from her umpteenth trip to a remote area of Iowa -- this time to "spring" the Nutrilite trailer and get it to Michigan for its final prep.

This whole team, which I'm sure includes many other names who contributed in ways big and small, will heave a collective sigh of relief when these experiences finally start doing what they've been built to do -- showcase Artistry and Nutrilite for consumers across North America. We also know that MANY IBOs will be excited to see it.  When the tour hits the road, you will have to make the effort to go and see it when it comes near you.  Even if you're not interested in going to the concert or other events where these vehicles will be in operation, you should come just to see the vehicle(s). (NOTE: In 2009, oftimes they'll be together, but sometimes they'll be on separate tours).

These vehicles bring our brands to life for consumers -- your future customers and prospective IBOs. Essentially, they bring Nutrilite's Center for Optimal Health and the Artistry Beauty Institute on the road. Many IBOs have been to the COH and/or the ABI.  Now they're coming to you! We will share where these vehicles are going and we also will try to provide an inside look to the tours for you through blogging and other means. Stay tuned in and we'll try to let you know when the bus and trailer come to a city near you!

It's a shame that all the hard work you folks have put into portraying a positive image is being undermined by the actions of people like Bridgett and David Steadson.

When people aren't allowed to have online discussions about Amway without those folks butting in to control the conversation, it gets out awfully fast and damages the reputation of your company.  Is there nothing you can do about that kind of thing?

Glad to see things are coming together though!  Sounds like you guys have been busy as heck!  Hope to see the vehicles when I go south!

EDITOR'S NOTE:  Aren't Bridgett and David allowed to be part of the conversation about Amway?  RL

I didn't say they shouldn't be part of it.

What I said was they butt in to conversations people are trying to have by responding to Google Alerts.  They remain where they aren't welcome to attempt damage control and bother people.  Does that not sound familiar?

It's a direct reflection on Amway, and it's not positive.

I guess if you guys are OK with it, there's nothing to worry about!  It's all good.

.

Editor's Note:  It does sound familiar.  People come in here and comment on every conversation they want to without penalty. Are there other sites that don't like to get everyone's opinions? If there is a private conversation that people want to have about the company or the business or whatever, they should do it in instant messaging or email or a private chatroom for members only ... but that's just my opinion. RL

rocket,

For the record, I respectfully responded on ONE forum explaining how Google Alerts work. And how the Internet works—like, how *everyone* can read what you write for years and years and years.

My comments had very little to do with the Amway business. If anyone actually read what I wrote, you would know that.

And though you and other critics of the business (most are former IBOs from over 10 years ago, like yourself) have been attempting to lure me on to your anti-amway blogs/forums with your name-calling, half-truths, vulgar language, and out-right nastiness, I have refrained from allowing to be bullied by you.

Perhaps you should reread Beth's post on CyberBullies?

Now excuse me while I take my adorable 5-year olds to school who are learning three pillars--to be respectful, to be responsible, and to be powerful through peace.

It's a gloriously beautiful sunny day. Hope you make the most of it, rocket. :)

Robin,

I am SO excited about the bus and the semi-trailer!

VERY exciting, and I think this will be highly effective.

Sure blows away my piddly little Nutrlite and Artistry bumper stickers. LOL. ;)

I'm going to keep this on topic as much as possible.

Bridgett caused more PR damage than benefit.  That's a fact Jack. You mentioned XS Energy Drink, Artistry, Nutrilite, Quixtar, and Amway.

You made a point of calling me a troll days earlier.

I too hope you had a fantastic time with your kids, and I hope that my kids also understand the meaning of those virtuous pillars you mentioned (while indirectly insinuating I possess none of those).

Robin, yes there are other sites that don't like to get other people's opinions.  IBOFB's is one of them.  Bridgett is another.  If people want to have conversations about topics and join forums specific to those topics, that is so people don't sign up to distort the discussion.

Again, I LOVE the MObeS, and I hope they accomplish what they were made to do.

Have a great weekend!

I'm sorry Rocket, but that is overt web whining.  You sound like a kid facing his rival with tears streaming down his face, "I'm going to tell Teacher and my Daddy on you!"

For some background Robin, someone on a forum was asking about Amway/Quixtar and if anyone had any experience with it. It was a public forum in a general area for "anything goes" talk. I pointed it out on Amway Talk and one of the users (neither I nor Bridgett incidentally) went and replied to them. The user addressed a number of common myths that folk were saying about Amway and gave their experience. A couple of the posters started attacking him as being a paid Amway employee and claiming Amway was monitoring private websites. Both myself and Bridgett saw this and joined and pointed out that the discussion came up on google and we were simply answering what the originally poster asked and that we weren't paid employees. A couple of posters got abusive and that was pretty much it when a moderator decided to close the thread. That was it, no big deal.

Folk like Rocket apparently believe that if someone asks about Amway on the 'net, only folk who are critical of the business are allowed to answer. Gotta love that free speech!

PS - hope you can put up some vids of the busses when they get rolling! What's the corp is doing in the US is inspiring and motivating for ABOs around the world.

Two weeks ago, I was educated on what an Internet troll is. I wish I had known earlier. It would have saved me SO MUCH time and energy over the last several months with the critics of this business.

.

So as an act of public service, in the same spirit as explaining Google Alerts, I offer the reader this definition according to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troll_(Internet) of an Internet troll:

.

someone who posts controversial and irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of provoking other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

I'm not whining ajgannon.

Just pointing out that Amway's PR efforts are for naught when people do what IBOFB et all were doing.

I'm sure they can justify it in their minds.

I also feel that anyone should be able to discuss Amway if they want, but without being subjected to people who obviously have an agenda, and were asked to leave.

As far as free speech IBOFB, when you stop banning people because they make you look bad, then you might be taken seriously.

I hope to see bus videos as well.

Yes of course .... what could we possibly be thinking? Someone in a public forum, in an "anything goes" topic area was specifically asking about experiences with Amway. And somehow, with our twisted logic, we managed to come up with some kind of bizarre justification for ... answering them! Duh.

As it happens my site statistics indicate there were a number of people who clicked through to Amway Watch and some of my other sites. Those folk now have a different side to the Amway story than the misleading one they were getting until Weary joined the fray.

Now children, let's behave.

Sounds like it's time for another "Prague" trip.

How about in Ada this time (which is where I originally thought the Prague trip was going to be), with an OPEN forum, AND with Amway executives and IBOAI in attendance?

I'll show you all some transparency.

Oh yeah, I'm looking forward to seeing the busses as well.

I think Rocket's bringing this up simply to give it more exposure. Really, there wasn't any damage done. The IBO's posts were very respectful and simply tried to answer the question of the original post and the questions that followed.

rocket was banned because he was not interested in a sensible discussion. You just have to read his posts to see that. He was basically being a troll who resorts to insults and name calling.

Then he says he was banned because he was making someone look bad? No way.

Rocket,

I've spent too much time following on-line discussions about Amway/Quixtar; therefore, I think I have a pretty good handle on your stance regarding the business.  Your comments here don't harmonize with the broad theme of your Internet commentary.  Since you believe Amway is a lousy opportunity with over-priced products, aren't you happy about your alleged belief that Bridgett and IBOFightBack are tarnishing the reputation of the business?  I think I see the wolf peeking out from under your sheep's costume.

Robin,

I apologize that our conversation with Rocket has dominated this thread.  Thank you for all of your awesome, informative blog posts!  You epitomize the spirit of SuperDu!

Robin,

.

I reread your post. Admittedly I got distracted with the comments the first time I read it, so I just scanned it.

.

This is a HUGE project. And it takes many, many, many people and a TON of effort to make it happen.

.

Everyone involved should be very proud of the finished project.

.

Thank you all very much. :)

Robin,

When you say "Stay tuned in and we'll try to let you know when the bus and trailer come to a city near you!"

are you talking about *after* the Tina Turner Concert Tour?

.

EDITOR'S NOTE:  The Tina Turner tour is where the bus and trailer are going for the rest of this year.  The comm's plan for 2009 and where the MoBEs are going then isn't developed yet (because the tour events have not yet been finalized).  - RL
